Welcome to the online community for The Catholic Parish of Blessed John 23rd Stanhope Gardens.
Thank you to all who were involved in making World Youth Day such an amazing success whether through helping prepare the church every morning, serving the large amounts of food that needed to be handed out everyday, or providing people with a place to stay during the week.
It was amazing to see so many pilgrims at Catechesis every morning and to have so many wonderful young people around for the week sharing their faith and love for Christ with all they met along the way. Many new friends have been made and our parish community is stronger because of it, so we are deeply grateful for all the work that everyone put into the week.
Well, it is now August and while the amazing spiritual renewal that was World Youth Day has passed, there is still plenty happening in the church to keep that spirit burning inside all of us alive.
For those who want to have a deeper understanding of the word of God, Adventures in Scripture is on Sunday from 9:30-10:20am. A five week series offering an 'Introduction to Mark's Gospel' by Br Brian Beggs has just begun and everyone is invited experience this wonderful opportunity and learn more about our Lord, Jesus Christ and get to know others in the parish as well.
Speaking about getting to know others in the parish, Sunday Morning Tea is a great way to meet up with those who are a part of your parish community, to catch up with old friends, or even make new ones. It is on after 8:30am and 10:30am Masses on the First Sunday of each month (in September it will be on the second Sunday as First Holy Communions are on the 1st Sunday).
From an upcoming trip to Mt Penang Gardens our Over 55's group, to Children's Mass, to 6pm Youth Mass, to the start of our RCIA program for another year; there is something happening in the church to interest everyone and if you want more details, read the latest copy of the Parish Bulletin which can be found under the Additional information section on the homepage.
As a parish we are proud to be a city on a mountain, a beacon to the whole world, and see it as our mission and responsibility to bring God's message of universal and unconditional love to all. We hope that as you journey through this website, you experience the joy and happiness we have for everyone we meet.
